Abstract
Amelogenesis imperfecta is a clinical condition, which comprises
developmental disorders that demonstrate alterations in the enamel. It
represents a group of inherited disorders, which are clinically heterogeneous
and exhibit tooth enamel defects in the absence of systemic manifestations. It
affects both deciduous and permanent dentition giving a characteristic feature
like thin and soft enamel, pitting over the enamel surface, discoloration of
teeth and loss of normal function. Literature reports various restorative
modalities used as a treatment to amelogenesis imperfecta to improve the
overall quality of life of patients but the treatment remains a challenge for
the dentists.
